An interesting question popped into my head.
    why is faith relevant?
what relevance does it hold to this moment, right now, at which we live our lives in?

Hard to answer as people will have different answers and yet there will still be more sub-questions and variables.
    Many things are relevant.

I personally think that everything is a grey area, it's all up to perception. Everything is relevant and not at the same time. Weather it's destiny or not. Your in this realm of existence for a reason. So live it for knowledge and complete your task at hand.

The answers to these questions will varying wildly based on , but not limited to, country, wealth, social standing ...etc.

Also the word "faith" is very vague. It could mean either religious practices or the innate trait of humans to believe in something. They're quite different though I assumed you spoke about the former instead of the latter.

It's hard to give a decent answer until you qualify what "faith" is.

Ironically, I did this very same question in another board a few days ago.

There was several answers, from one being able to control their system of belief ala chaos magic to being loyal to what one believes to be true or correct. Personally, I lean towards the later.

Faith can mean "truthful" depending on the context, as when you give faith unto a document. But then, to attest its truthfulness, you have to possess some kind of satisfactory evidence.

    Depends who you ask.
If you ask an atheist, they would probably say that faith is the tool of people that need something to believe in since there is so much bad stuff that's been going 'round for a time. For some people, if they have nothing to believe on, they think that their lives have no meaning, or that existence has no meaning. That's why you also see a lot of youngsters joining certain groups, 'cause they want something to give meaning to their lives.

If you ask a spiritual, but non-religious person, they would say that faith gives you a bigger or deeper understanding of the universe.Considering that most people have a very narrow focus, this could be a good or bad thing on the long run.

If you ask a religious person, they would probably say that faith gives you a happy ending. The bad people are always punished, the good ones go to a better place after they expire, anything good or bad happens 'cause a deity knows what's best for you so you wouldn't need to worry 'bout your life, and etc.For a religious person, faith gives 'em the answers that reality or science doesn't give or doesn't want to give, even if those answers aren't the true ones.

Faith is relevant to people who want the donations to keep rolling in.

Basically allows people to excuse every single damn thing that would change their mind about god.

The concept of Faith without proof/evidence, is for the sake of controlling... dumb people. Blind faith is just that, blind.

People who are willing to do that are taken advantage of in this world sadly.... but that's a reality; the strong feeding on the weak.

@Halideus Do you want my long explanation including metaphysical and philosophical mechanics or a brief answer?
