Warding and Shielding, Are they the same? Warding for me is Shielding but for a Place or object, And shielding is for a person. You can ward a particular place and a object but you can also shield a place and object, So wouldn't they be the same but used in different contexts and terms?

Shields are 'portable" while wards aren't, wards are for areas or a house, etc. but both can be intricate.

Wards shields barriers. I always assumed it was different names for the same thing myself. Defensive energy meant to keep somethin out.

A good metaphor for a ward is a sign saying "Back the hell up lady dog", it gives out an energy of stay away to whatever it targets or everything while a shield just stops certain things from entering a specified space.
Most basic explanation, Wards ward away stuff and shields shield you from stuff.

Fair enough, I was just pondering about the names of things and the uses. Thanks for the clarification. :)

I just wonder why are there so many things out there but in the end its still the same but people keep trying to make it different or special by giving it different names? :(

You will see this throughout your life. A lot of people want the recognition from coining a term.

People use different names based on their own understandings, but there are differences in things like wards and shields.

Also driven by the misunderstanding that using a diffrent name for the same thing makes it different from the original, which isn't true.

If warding and shielding are slightly different, would they have a different formula for constructing?

Each can be build/constructed in different ways, there's many ways to make a ward and many ways to make a shield, but some methods are very similar. Like constructs, waving energy in a intricate way, things like that.

Ok so.... I would say a ward would be like mosquito repellent, while a shield would be a mosquito net.

They have a similiar purpose of protection. Though I would imagine with wards, you could use it to manipulate things in the fasion of pushing them away... so not necessarily just about protecting stuff. I wonder if you could use wards to help you herd cattle or something like that.

I would imagine wards being my physical, similiar to magic seals used by japanese priests. I wanna say a decent ward would take a little more energy to create than a shield, but may not need as much maintenance as a shield. Really though it breaks down to how much energy you wanna play with.

To me personally, wards have always been more of an area of effect. A sort of 'cloud' with definable barrier or point of beginning or ending that encompasses an area or a person. To me shield are more 'solid' they are defined and have a denser structure that is more like a sphere or body armor.

My opinion is that wards, once placed, don't have to be tended to as much and are for protecting specific places or items. Shields are for an individual and generally require more upkeep. That's been my experience anyway. The mosquito repellent vs. mosquito netting analogy is pretty apt.
